Manipuri Dance Workshop

This plan provides a concise and engaging introduction to Manipuri Dance within the 2-hour time frame.

Introduction and Warm-up (15 minutes)

Learning Basic Steps (30 minutes)
1. Basic Postures: Teach basic postures and hand gestures (mudras).
2. Basic Steps: Introduce basic steps, such as the “Thang-ta” and “Lai Haraoba” rhythms.

Learning a Traditional Manipuri Dance Form (45 minutes)
1. Lai Haraoba: Teach the traditional Lai Haraoba dance form, which celebrates the sylvan deities.
2. Choreography: Teach choreography for the selected dance form, incorporating the basic steps.
